It's Swarming

Yup it's a termite swarm.

This past week and a half has been horrendous.  J and Sis #3 have had to make the decision on putting their mom in hospice, I think we got two speeding tickets, (damn traffic cameras),  I've blown my little 5 lb weight loss and as we were coming home from the hospice facility we discover that the Formosan termites are swarming early, a vent is off of the soffit, and the lights are on.  In case you didn't know, the GNO (Greater New Orleans), area is plagued with Formosan termite swarms that can be so bad that it looks like it has snowed.

On the way home, the highway was covered in white drifts of the darn things.  It's bad this year.  These pests are drawn to the light so the general practice is that all of the GNO area neighborhoods are left dark during this brief and yet oh so anxious period.  Neighbors call one another reminding each other to turn out the lights.  I remember one year Dad was really put out with the people next door; they had left their lights on and weren't home.  I remember Dad swearing up and down we were going to get termites because of it.

I don't know why I'm writing this, to tell you the truth I'm bored by it, but while I've got ten minutes I figured I'd put something up.  Perhaps it's my perpetual headache or J's understandable depression, but I just can't seem to be motivated about anything and so we are all stuck with this stupid post on termites.  Sorry.  I'm sure it will get better in the future.

Weight Loss Wednesday: Horrible Week

Want to crawl under a blankie and forget this week.

This has been a horrible week.  HORRIBLE!  One cat recovering from major butt issues, (yeah I've been nursing a cat's butt), one cat with a huge abscess that burst all over the sofa, spare bed and wherever he wandered, Maw Maw is in the ICU, my mother is having huge issues with her bank, (which means I'm having huge issues with my mother's bank), my bank canceled my ATM card because the number was compromised, (the kicker is that they didn't notify me), and I've still got some rock star jacket thingie to make for niece #5 so she can attend her Fresh Beat Band concert properly attired.  You'd think I'd be scarfing down the food, but actually there was one day where I didn't eat enough.

That sparkpeople.com food tracker has really helped me, (I'm sure if you surf a bit there are other food tracker sites out there, but I'm feeling less than sparky and too lazy to look that stuff up.)  I was in denial over my calorie intake.  The site set up my calorie goal between approx. 1300-1500 a day and I've really been trying to keep myself in that range and so here are the results:

Exercise:  Not so good.  Been moving that darn dirt, but so busy I've put it off a few times.
Water:  Not doing 8 glasses a day, but getting darn close.  J says the redness in my face has faded and that my skin looks "nice."  A most impressive compliment coming from a guy who didn't notice the coca-cola red streaks in my hair a few years ago.
Food:  For the most part I've been a good girl; most of the week I met my target caloric intake.
Confession:  I'm eating heavenly hash chocolates almost nightly.
Congratulations:  I actually hit 8 glasses of water once this week.
Weight loss:  5 lbs!!  Yay!!  (J says he can see I lost weight and some of my pants are loose!)
Current weight:  144  (I changed this up a bit because it's easier to keep track.)

Dream weight: 115

Quick Little Post

J's mom, (Maw Maw), went into the hospital and today is headed for the ICU, so don't think I've forgotten about this here lame little blog, it's just between my baby sitting nieces #5 & 6 so that Sis #3 can deal with her mother and visits to the hospital to relieve Sis #3 I've been busy.  BBL

Weight Loss Wednesday: Not too unhappy!

Yeah, that's me soaking wet, but happy in Hogsmeade!

Okay last week I was super busy packing for our trip to, (insert major happy-happy joy-joy here), THE WIZARDING WORLD OF HARRY POTTER, in Orlando!!!!  It was a last minute decision and I had to wait until we got to the hotel before I could post.  In case you didn't know, I'm wild about Harry!  I had butter beer, fish and chips, pumpkin juice, etc., so my diet wasn't exactly top of my list this past week but I didn't do too bad.  Lots of walking involved so burned a good bit of calories.

Exercise:  Well I thought I did pretty good with this seeing how we walked our buns off.
Water:  Excellent!  There were a few days where I had a full 8 glasses of water.
Food:  Not so good.  Lots of junk food, burgers, fried stuff, sugar, sugar sugar.
Confession:  I ate an entire bag of bread sticks. : (
Congratulations:  I made myself eat a salad at the buffet instead of all that fattening stuff.
Weight loss:  -1
Total weight loss: -3 (Really I'm not too unhappy with this.)

Weight Loss Wednesday: Late, but I can't say why... yet.

Okay I'm not gonna be long on this one, because well, I can't tell yet, but next week I'll fess up.  This week I took Birdie's suggestion and joined Spark People and wow did that open my eyes!  Apparently I am scarfing down tons of calories and carbs like they are going out of style.  So to keep this short and sweet...

Exercise:  I did sprints as I hauled dirt.  I can't believe it but that darn pile is actually getting smaller.
Water:  Up to 4 8oz glasses a day, (yay me).
Food:  Not where I want to be, but I did okay considering...
Confession:  I ate J's Whoppers candy.
Congratulations:  I've done really well with my water.
Weight loss: -2 pounds!
Total weight loss: -2 pounds

Weight Loss Wednesday on Thursday: Sorry 'bout that.

Well I've been up at Mom's place helping her clean up a storm for a visit from niece #1.  I had no internet while I was up there and was too busy and tired to hit a coffee shop to get the net so here I am a day late.  I did better this week, but not stellar by any means of imagination.  I purchased a top and immediately noticed the difference that a lousy three pounds made, (when you are 4' 9" tall even a couple of pounds make a difference).  I'm getting back on the wagon but I'm going to try a suggestion made by Sis #3's sister-in-law and purchase some of those "lean" frozen dinners.  I am convinced that once I shed five or ten pounds I'll be totally motivated.  My goal was twenty by June and darn it I'm gonna do it if it kills me, (Yeah that's me, the drama queen; it's sort of like a cake or death thing.).  So here's the break down:

Exercise:  Still hauling eight loads of dirt a day.  (Jeez it seems like one dump truck load would be gone by now doesn't it?)
Water:  Did a min. of one glass a day and a few days of two glasses a day.  Not ready to go up to three, but I'm thinking if I can make two glasses a day my new religion for a couple of weeks I'll step it up.
Food:  Doing a lot of late night eating and have decided to do a food diary so that I can see exactly what I'm shoveling in my face.
Confession:  Ate a piece of homemade cheese cake with a wonderful Grand Marnier sauce with satsuma slices, and then ate the other half of niece #1's as well.  But the true confession is that despite knowing it was wrong, I'd do it again.
Congratulations: I stopped myself from having a third snack Tuesday evening.
Weight loss: None, but there was no more weight gain.
